JSPS Fellowships for Foreign Researchers

Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is the leading research funding agency in Japan, established by the Japanese Government for the purpose of contributing to the advancement of science. Our Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers (Long Term) and Invitation Fellowships (Short Term) provides the opportunity for postdoctoral or more experienced researchers based outside of Japan to conduct collaborative research activities with leading research groups at Japanese universities and research institutions. The postdoctoral fellowship will support a visit of between 12 to 24 months and the invitation fellowship will support a visit of between 14 to 60 days.

Eligible applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship need to have finished their PhD at an institution outside of Japan at the time of applying to start their fellowship or have obtained their PhD after 1 April 2010.

Eligible applicants for an invitation fellowship should be established researchers with a strong academic track record.

Eligible research fields are not limited.

Applications for this fellowships should be submitted to JSPS Tokyo via a host institution in Japan.
